DECK RESTORATION

Let Us Refresh the Look of Your Deck

Deck restoration is an in-depth process of removing rot and staining the deck boards. We are the most experienced in the industry, and providing two-tone stain jobs is unique to Corbin Home Services.

Our Process

The process involves going through the deck and finding all of the rot and weak areas if there are any. Then begins the repair and cleaning process. We use chemicals that bring the pH of the boards to be attracted to the type of stains that we use.

Pressure washing is almost always necessary to clean all of the algae and sun damage/fade off. We have a lot of experience using a pressure washer, making sure not to damage or fray any wood, only leaving the beauty of the boards. (Just cleaning the decks is something we provide also, and Wood brightening is available.)

Once the deck is pressure washed, we need to let it thoroughly dry out. This process can take up to a week. We want to make sure that there is no moisture trapped in those boards after the pressure washing.

We go through and sand all of the hydrophobic areas or loose, solid stains and translucent stains. We use hand sanders and large industrial floor sanders

We take extra precautions and think about the use of the deck where people are leaning, walking, and sliding their arms or hands-on and what their feet are going to touch, making sure all of those edges are rounded off. There are no sharp areas or splintered wood left to cause any unwanted disruptions while the deck is being used for birthday parties, barbecues, hosting, and more.

Once the sanding is complete, we begin with the preparation to ensure there is a 0% chance of overspray or unwanted dripping anywhere on the property. If a big concrete slab is under the deck, we will cover it with a canvas. This process shows the customers why hiring Corbin Home Services sets us apart from the other guys and why we are professionals in this industry.

Once the deck is stained, all of the protective material and canvassing are put away.

What Is to Follow?

When we first show up, we remove everything off the deck. This is part of the process, so the homeowner does not need to lift a finger and worry about that stuff. When we finish the restoration process, we remove all the protective material and canvassing. There is a 48 to 72 hour period where no one can walk on the deck. No people or pets should be allowed to step on the deck, or damage can be done. After this waiting period, the customer can return their items, such as patio chairs and grills, to the deck. However, if customers would like us to come out and place their items back on the deck, we can do so for an additional charge.

Above and Beyond

Upcoming weather, such as rain and heat, is a factor. If it is going to be too hot that day or we are going through a heat wave, we can't have something that occurs called flash drying, that is where we put the stain on the board, and instead of it getting absorbed, it dries immediately on top of the board and flakes off very fast. We are willing to start jobs very early in the morning if we do not need any power tools to beat the sun and the heat. Just another thing that puts us over the bar.

Finishes

We apply multiple coats. This is a very long process; we do not get in and out in one day. We provide finishes that last a long time using only the highest-end products available. We are happy to work with anyone's budget.
